MATCH DAY U.S.F. MED SCHOOL

Dr. Michael Flannery.

Dr. Michael Flannery,
There are OTHER MDs who know about this. Not just me.

On Match Day, students lined up to sign a lab coat that would be given to Flannery.

They wrote notes of gratitude.

"When I interviewed for med school here," wrote Tim Goede, "my interview with you sealed the deal."

Today, at USF, hundreds will join the 2-mile Walk to Defeat ALS.

Some will wear T-shirts that say "Miles for Michael." His hockey pals will show up in team jerseys. His wife and children will be at his side. Kids from Kevin's school. Friends from the neighborhood. USF medical students, residents, fellows and faculty, ready to walk.

Michael Flannery will cut a ribbon, and all around him, muscles will obey.

News researcher Natalie Watson contributed to this report. Staff writer Patty Ryan can be reached at (813) 226-3382 or pryan@tampabay.com.

real Mar 16, 2012 11:26 PM Yesterday As a recent graduate of internal medicine, I know that medicine can't be the profession at it's without a doctor such as this one. Medical teachers make economic sacrifices to teach and are role models in a profession that truly needs them. I am sorry to hear of this diagnosis. I only hope the best for the family and hope a cure is discovered soon.

Reply Report Abuse 0 0 troofytroof Mar 17, 2012 7:03 PM About 5 minutes ago The reason I believe that about ductwork is quite simply the materials used to surround a window-unit in a hard to cool room were somehow SOAKED with whatever this stuff is. (but dried out by the time I touched it) I put this foam around the window unit MYSELF straight from the carton I purchased it in. It also causes an excess amt. of sneezing. At several houses I visited you could witness people nodding off or arguing for no reason and the air would "feel" foul like our home at one time. At one of these homes the owner has since died of lung cancer. Very young and vigorous and healthy man. That's IT from me. Do with it what you will. Cautionary words spoken with conviction, evidence and good intent. Best of luck to all and please consider what is being told to you.

Why do people with high-level important jobs whom we owe our safety and health to believe they are somehow shielded from criminals? It's not like what I am stating is NEW. You just want it kept secret. Come ON, what about the brilliant young doctor just murdered on her bicycle? Hit and run? Right. What was she working on or studying? SPT should care about this not just accept that our good medical people and biologists are prone to disaster. I'm Catholic, TOO but there are still thinkers AMONG US. Let him read the alternatives. If not you're just as guilty as a possible perpetrator.
